Mzuvukile Manxiwa, a renowned poet from Gqeberha, is spearheading the Siqandula Sigraya event, set to take place in the Mvumelwano locality of Qumbu on June 1.
This event aims at fostering new talent and bringing together poets from across the nation, including KwaZulu-Natal, the Eastern Cape, and Cape Town, for a two-day gathering with the main activities scheduled for Saturday.
Manxiwa’s vision for the event is to nurture emerging poets and demonstrate to the youth that fulfilment can be found beyond alcohol consumption. With a history of two album releases, ubukhoboka bengqondo in 2017 and ndilixhoba in 2019, along with a published poetry book Isilonda sibhidlile, Manxiwa has made significant contributions to the literary scene.
His efforts have been recognised and supported by his friend, Wonga Gwele, who highlights Manxiwa’s national influence through poetry sessions, workshops, and events across various municipalities in the Eastern Cape.
Gwele further explained that as a member of the Eastern Cape Literary Society under the Department of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture (DSRAC), Manxiwa’s upcoming event is a culmination of his years of dedication to poetry and his community.
