Mineral Resources and Energy Deputy Minister, Dr Nobuhle Nkabane, has officially handed over a newly built administration block to Mzimkhulu Primary School in Gxulu, Libode, which falls under the Nyandeni Local Municipality.
The administration block was constructed for the school by Sunshine Enterprises PTY LTD (trading as Transkei Quarries) as part of its social and labour plan project, according to the company’s operations manager, Pieter Vorster.
The facility houses the principal’s office, staff room, a boardroom for meetings and a safe.
School principal, Lulamile Nakasa, said the donation of an admin block was highly appreciated, especially the strongroom housed within the facility.
“We previously used a makeshift room that we divided into my office, the HODs’ office and staff room, which was too small to accommodate all of us.
“We were also battling burglaries at the old room we were using, especially on weekends, with criminals targeting our school nutrition groceries, so we particularly welcome the fact that the facility has a strongroom for safekeeping of our valuables,” Nakasa said.
Transkei Quarries spent more than R600 000 towards the construction of the administration building facility.
