Community members from OR Tambo District Municipality are expected to gain more knowledge in the Khuzeka Annual Event that will be held in Port St Johns Town Hall, in Port St Johns on December 16.

This event was started in 2019. This was confirmed by the founder of this event, radio presenter, Ntsikelelo Matandabuzo. He presents various shows on Sajonisi Youth Radio (SYR).

Referring to the word Khuzeka, Matandabuzo said this refers to someone who does not want to listen when he/she is warned to stop doing what is wrong or not accepted. He said people have grown up in different areas and homesteads.

“Some were lucky because they grew up in the homesteads where their parents knew how to say ‘no’ when doing something wrong.

“Even today, we see those people doing right things because they were taught the values of NO so they are able to differentiate between what is wrong and right. By hosting this event we want people to understand the simple word ‘no’,” said Matandabuzo.

According to him, he started this event after he was driven by one of the programmes he is doing in SYR, called Inkqubo yemithandazo, which starts from 04:00 to 05:00 every week.

Matandabuzo said he realised that people were facing different challenges, which is why he decided to start this event.

He added that he is working with the Council of Churches and other stakeholders in order to ensure that this programme is successful.

“I am also getting support from both my colleagues and my management from SYR.

“I am expecting people who are coming from OR Tambo and other areas and I can assure you those who would attend will receive a lot of deliverance and knowledge.”

He ensured that there would gospel artists who would be coming from different areas including Cape Town.

He confirmed that at the moment they are still sorting out areas where tickets would be sold at R50 for general and R100 for VIPs.
