A MEMBER of the NPO, Movement for Change in Ngqamakhwe, Luyanda Mgweba, was pleased with how the organisation had hosted the annual Mtebele Heritage Sport Development tournament this year.
He handed over the trophy to Burning Stars FC, who beat Mtebele United on penalties, 7-6 at the Mtebele sports ground in Ngqamakhwe, in the final at the weekend.
Both teams played to a 0-0 draw during regulation time and the game was decided by penalty shoot-out.
During the prize presentation, Mgweba encouraged young players to keep on playing sport and to stay away from drugs.
He also expressed happiness to see young people who came out in huge numbers to support their local teams and he also urged them to keep doing that in the next tournament.
In addition, he said the Movement for Change organisation was created to assist young people in sports development and also to help the villages around Ngqamakhwe in terms of community development.
During the event, supporters were not allowed to bring the alcohol to the Mtebele sports ground. The only supporters allowed to attend were the parents of the players.
Nine teams participated and official SAFA referees controlled the action.
In conclusion, Mgweba thanked all teams who participated in the event, and the East London Industrial Development Zone, who partnered with them to assist with community development.
