The members of African Star Management Film Productions (SMFP), which is based at Ekurhuleni in Gauteng and at OR Tambo District Municipality in Mthatha, will be hosting a boot camp from tomorrow, June 18, to Sunday, June 20, at Tombo Administrative Area in Port St Johns.
The aim of this camp is to build film audiences and encourage the youth to participate in film and drama activities to better their lives.
The registration for this Boot Camp is opened and those who would be attending would be trained on acting for TV, screen writing and production design.
According to the managing director and founder of SMFP, Wanda Skoti, they had been travelling around the O.R Tambo District. He said they had started at Nyandeni Local Municipality, followed by King Sabatha Dalindyebo Local Municipality and then Port St Johns Local Municipality.
“We are targeting the most disadvantaged youth from rural areas. Each time we host a boot camp, we produce a film with those we have trained, as the outcome of the training,” said Skoti.
He added that the date of the shooting would be shared after this camp, as they would host auditions on its last day (June 20).
According to Skoti, they were planning to shoot a movie, titled “Usana Lwam”, and the trailer was already available on YouTube. He added that they were aiming at releasing it no later than April 2022.
This being Youth Month, the acting boot camp will target children, youth and adults between the ages of 12 and 46.
