Two brothers, Sizwe Mangebe
(31) and Themba Mangebe (27) from Mbotyi locality in Lusikisiki briefly
appeared in the Lusikisiki Magistrate’s Court in connection with the murder of their father at their home last weekend.
Their case was postponed until May 17 to get legal representation and for a formal bail application.
Spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), Luxolo Tyali, said the
deceased was with his wife and daughter when he allegedly assaulted the family dog until it died. He allegedly assaulted the dog because it “ate eggs and other domestic
animals”.
“After the dog died, the suspects assaulted him (the father) and he sustained head
injuries. He was taken to St Elizabeth Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries,” said Tyali.
He added that the brothers allegedly fled to Mzizangwa
location in Lusikisiki and were later arrested.
