Newly
appointed Chris Hani district police commissioner, Major General Rudolph Adolph, will use a community centered approach to fight major crimes in his
district.

Adolph,
interacting with the media for the first time since his appointment, said Mlungisi, Ngcobo, Cofimvaba
and Tsomo, Cradock and Dalasile were the crime hotspots in the district.

He added that he has 29 police stations under his belt and he wanted to make the people
of Chris Hani feel safe and secured.

“Upon my arrival I noticed there was a
decrease in crime in the first quarter. But there has been a gradual increase
in contact crimes since June with kidnappings on the rise,” he explained.

Adolph
said he would work with private security companies, communities and other
safety structures to make up for the lack of resources.

He said liquor, drugs
and firearms had been identified as generators of contact crime in Mlungisi and
police would fight those through Operation Sikhona.

Adolph,
who has been in the police force for 31 years, said being a police official was his first choice as a career and that he had never done any other job besides being an officer of
the law.

“I have 10 more years to achieve all I ever wanted to do as a
policeman. I would like us to focus on primary schools and work with other
government departments to make children ready for high school.

“Bullying and
gangsterism start in high school. So if we work with structures such as Moral
Regeneration Movement, we will make an impact,” Adolph said.
