City Lads’ FC from Gqeberha have registered their first point in the Hollywoodbets Super League; meanwhile their neighbours from Butterworth, Thunderbirds Ladies, have dropped three places in the league table.

Hollywoodbets Super League newcomers, City Lads’ FC, started the season on a bad note, when they suffered five successive defeats in their opening fixtures.

But Lads’ FC did not give up, as they continued searching for points in the division and over the weekend they managed to register a point when they played to a 1-1 draw away against a mid-table side, First Touch FC.

Although they collected a single point, they remain at the bottom of the league table after six games.

Their neighbours, Thunderbirds Ladies, suffered their second defeat of the season when they lost 5-2 against Bloemfontein Celtic FC at Sisa Dukashe over the weekend.

This poor result has made coach Thembalethu Apleni’s team drop from third place to sixth position with 10 points.

For this weekend both Eastern Cape based teams, City Lads’ FC and Thunderbirds Ladies, each have another opportunity to improve their league table standings, as they will be playing at home once again this weekend.

Thunderbirds Ladies will be hosting defending champions, Mamelodi Sundowns, at Sisa Dukashe Stadium, while City Lads’ FC will be entertaining mid-table side Coal City Wizards at Gqeberha. Both fixtures will be played on Saturday afternoon.
