The members of the company, We Solve for X, have donated career textbooks to three schools in KwaBacha (formerly known as Mount Frere), with the aim of helping learners to prepare for their futures.

According to the actuarial analyst and chief executive officer, Tsietsi Ngobese, the company adopted three schools in this area, where they teach learners mathematics on Saturdays.

Schools who received textbooks were Mzinto Primary School, Evoveni Primary School and KwaShushu High School.

“Besides donating textbooks, we also gave parents food parcels and we are doing this every month. When we started this programme, we realised that these learners did not know about the careers they could do,” said Ngobese.

He said they had decided to partner with other companies who could assist them to get career guidance.

He said they also taught parents maths in these schools, so that they would be able to assist their children with homework assignments.

“We don’t want them to be stressed about groceries when going back home. Some of the children have nothing to eat at home. By doing this (donating food parcels), we want to ensure that we don’t lose them, so they don’t go around doing bad things to get food.”

He also added that they were also excited about their partnership with Durban University of Technology for the smart design of flushing toilets. A site visit was done on November 15, to identify other needs of the school.
