THE Eastern Cape Sasol League decider match date has been changed, but it is expected not to affect anything as the venue is unchanged.
The initial date for the decider was 24 August at Lady Frere Sports Stadium, but now it is August 25.
This follows after the re-schedule of the Kay Motsepe School Cup which was expected to take place on August 3 at the Lady Frere Stadium, but this has now been changed to August 24.
This change forced the South African Football Association (SAFA) to reschedule their event to 25 August, and it will be played at the same venue, the Lady Frere Stadium.
Teams who finished in second to fourth place in the Sasol League Coastal Stream and Sasol League Inland Stream will play against each other during the event.
The big clash decider match will be between teams who won the Coastal Stream and Inland Stream, and the winner will represent the province in national promotion play-offs.
Sophakama Ladies’ FC from Gqeberha, and Executive Ladies’ FC from Ntabankulu, are the teams who finished their season over the weekend sitting on top of their streams with 42 points on each side.
Coastal Stream winners, Sophakama Ladies’ FC, punished their league rivals, Nav Galaxy Ladies FC’, 3–0 to wrap up the season in style on Saturday.
It means Sophakama Ladies’ FC have wrapped up their season without a defeat, as they won 13 games and drew only three, registering 42 points.
Nav Galaxy Ladies’ FC, who tried their best to fight for the top spot but failed, finished in second place, with 32 points in 16 games.
Meanwhile, in the Inland Stream, Executive Ladies’ FC wrapped up their season invincible, after winning all 14 of their league games.
On Saturday, Executive Ladies’ FC beat Red Roses Ladies’ FC 2–0 away to finish their season unbeaten.
It means the Ntabankulu team finished the season with 42 points, followed by Eastern Cape Peace Lovers FC from Ngcobo by 36 points.
Now the stream winners are going to play against each other in a decider so the team that wins will be crowned Eastern Cape Sasol League Champions for the 2024 season.
Both sides competing in the decider are yet to suffer a defeat this year, and they are good to score goals as they end the season with a big goal difference in their streams.
