Easter soccer tournament to be held in Nobuswana Village

Sdima Sethu Creative of Arts Group from Centane area, which falls under Mnquma, is expected to host a two-day Easter soccer tournament at Nobuswana Village, in Centane, this weekend.

The event will start on Sunday and finish on Monday and feature 17 soccer teams from the Mbhashe and Mnquma areas. They will compete for R3 000 plus sheep for the winning team and R1 000 for the runners-up, while third prize will be R450.

The main purpose of the tournament is to promote sport development in rural areas and also to take the youth away from drugs.

Event organiser, Zuko Ntonzima, has revealed that the games will start early in the morning on Sunday because they wanted to make sure they finish all the fixtures on time.

Ntonzima also called on parents and community members to come out in great numbers to support the teams who will be competing.

It is the first time the Sdima Sethu Creative of Arts group will host an event of this nature, as they usually organise entertainment events around Mbhashe and Mnquma.

On Saturday afternoon in Centane, the members of Sdima Sethu Creative of Arts group and club representatives are expected to conduct the draw for all 17 soccer teams that will be competing in this two-day Easter soccer tournament.
