EC Jazz Fest date moved to include more local artists

The Eastern Cape Jazz Festival, which had been originally scheduled to take place tomorrow, December 3, has now been moved to December 17, to allow for inclusion of more local artistes on the line-up.

The Eastern Cape Jazz Festival, which had been originally scheduled to take place tomorrow, December 3, has now been moved to December 17, to allow for inclusion of more local artistes on the line-up.

This was revealed by the Eastern Cape Jazz Festival Public Relations Manager, Nozipho Bokisa.

“The Eastern Cape Jazz Festival prides itself on being a developmental organisation that provides a platform for local talent to showcase their craft, especially artistes from the Eastern Cape.”

“As part of including more local artistes to the festival, the Eastern Cape Jazz Festival and the Nelson Mandela Museum are working to keep alive the spirit of Ubuntu, as embodied by the late global icon Nelson Mandela, by having a more inclusive festival,” Bokisa says.

Therefore, as we finalise the concert line-up, we are calling on local musicians from Mthatha and surrounding areas to upload video clips showing off their talent on the Eastern Cape Jazz Festival Facebook page using #ECJazzfestRemembersMadiba21, Bokisa added.

Artistes with the most likes and shares will then be included in the final line-up.

The final line-up of artistes who will grace the stage at the concert was expected to be revealed on November 30.

The festival organisers have apologised to those who had already purchased tickets for the inconvenience caused by the change of date while promising an unforgettable experience at Madiba’s musical tribute.

  • The venue for the festival remains Mthatha Country Club and more information is available on www.ecjazzfest.co.za while further enquiries can be made by sending an email to admin@ecjazzfest.co.za.
