ENGCOBO-born house musician, Zwelethemba Maraya, has released a new single.

Maraya, aka Thiza, found the love for music at the age of 14 and got involved in 2017. He was born in Engcobo on November 28, 1978, and started dancing and singing at his local church.

He was also a member of the school choir at All Saints Junior Primary School while performing at the local cultural group. He said he was a producer and an artist, and could delve into Afro pop and hip hop genres easily.

“My love for house music was inspired by the likes of DJ Khabzela, Christos, Glen Lewis, and Ganyani. House music is still strong, more especially in the US. Although the Amapiano genre is popular these days, house still has a future in the music industry,” he said.

His latest single, Dance to the Music, was released in June. His music can be found on SoundCloud, YouTube and TikTok.

His fans can also follow him on the social network Facebook as Zwelie Thiza Maraya. He recorded his first album, Engcobo Funk, in 2018, and it was followed by singles, Engcobo Funk 2, Wozan’ Engcobo, and Stand by me, among his other productions.

“To up-and-coming artists and young people I can say they must not forget to focus on their studies. You can’t rely only on music because of its ups-and-downs and challenges,” he said.
