THE director of V.V. Mxhosa PTY (Ltd), Yanga Mtyide, from Rockville locality in Bizana, confirmed they had received a tractor from the Isiqalo Youth Fund of the Eastern Cape last week.

He stated that the tractor was accompanied by a trailer, grinder, and pelletiser.

After graduating from Wits University, Mtyide worked at a bank but later resigned to join an insurance company in Johannesburg. “At both of these workplaces, I was not happy, especially in Johannesburg, because I noticed that many of my colleagues had a background in farming. I then decided to return home and start farming in 2019,” said Mtyide.

He mentioned that his parents were initially unhappy with his decision. However, his brother visited him in Johannesburg, observed his condition, and realised he had lost weight due to stress.

According to him, his business now encompasses several divisions. In the first division, they cultivate maize and vegetables while also producing growing mash for chickens and livestock feed. “Besides this, we also rear chickens and pigs. On the other side, we run a consultancy where we assist our clients with business plans and other business-related matters. Currently, we have six permanent employees and 20 part-time workers,” he said.

Mtyide advises young people who want to start a business to ensure they have a passion for it first. “The strongest advantage I have is that I love and understand business. I am building a legacy for my child so that one day she will see me as her role model and either follow in my footsteps or choose another career path.”
