Unstoppable Executive Ladies, from Ntabankulu, have finished the first round of the season in the Sasol league Inland Stream with an undefeated record.
This followed after the defending champions, Executive Ladies, registered their eighth victory of the season over the weekend, when they defeated title chasers, Eluhewini Ladies’ FC, 3-0 at home.
During the first round of the season, the Ntabankulu team played nine league games, with only one match ending in a draw and no defeats.
They collected 25 points.
With eight teams that are plying their trade in the Sasol League Inland Stream, no team so far has managed to collect maximum points against the league table toppers, Executive Ladies, as all of them have failed to beat the defending champions.
As things stand, it looks as though the Ntabankulu team will once again win the Sasol League Inland Stream title, unless the second-placed side, Ayakha Stars FC from Mthatha, manage to close the five-point gap between themselves and the defending champions.
Eluhewini Ladies, from Ngcobo, trail the league leaders by seven points.
Over the weekend, Ayakha Stars FC boosted their chances of winning the title race, after they defeated Coastal United Ladies’ FC 4-2 to increase their points tally to 20 after nine league games.
For this weekend’s league fixtures, the top three teams will be gunning for maximum points to keep the title race alive.
League table leaders, Executive Ladies, will travel to Bizana to play against bottom side, Mzamba Ladies; Ayakha Stars will be hosting mid-table side, Eastern Rangers FC, while Eluhewini Ladies’ FC will visit Red Roses.
Ladies’ FC and Amanqilo Birds will entertain Coastal United Ladies’ FC.
All fixtures will take place on this Saturday afternoon.
