Eexecutive Ladies grabbed a vital away point in the first leg of their inland derby, after playing to a one-all draw against Ayakha Star’s Ladies at Mthatha Stadium on Saturday.

Both teams were targeting three points, as they were eyeing the first position in the league.

Ayakha Star’s Ladies were the first team to find the net in the first half at around 25 minutes, thanks to Lilitha Mweli, but Executive Ladies later equalised, thanks to a goal from Ezalapha ‘Zine’ Msuthu.

Executive head coach, Khethokwakhe Ngonini, said out of 12 chances they created, they only scored one goal.

Executive Ladies, who are still on top of the log, are hoping to return to winning ways when they face Coastal Ladies this coming weekend, at home in Ntabankulu.

Coach Ngonini said they are now going back to the drawing board.

“One point is very important when you are playing away, and this one point will help us when we conclude the league,” he said.

Ntando Magwaxaza, Ayakha Stars assistant coach, said the match was a tough and some of their players were injured and were not present on the day.

“This was a home match which we were supposed to win, and the aim was to defeat Executive Ladiies here at home,” said Magwaxaza.

“I am not happy with this one point because we had many good chances, but we did not use them.”

The game was held at the Mthatha Stadium on Saturday.

After three games of the Inland stream league, Executive Ladies still lead with seven points; in second position is Coastal Ladies with six points and Ayakha Stars Ladies with four points in third position.
