THE founder of the Born Victorious Foundation, Zintle Ndamase, facilitated a dialogue that was themed on gender-based violence (GBV) at Khwezi Township in Mthatha, last week.
She said their aim was to impart knowledge, enrich, and uplift the women who attended, adding that the event was very timely because the statistics show that there have been increasingly high numbers of femicide cases in the past month. “The workshop was a time of healing and reflection to those who were in attendance.
“Among the guest speakers was Lihle Matsilela, a GBV survivor who had 39 stab wounds caused by GBV, who shared her story to help the attendees to have the courage to come out of abusive relationships,” said Ndamase.
She added that she started this organisation out of the compassion she had for young people and women. Ndamase grew up in the township and was acquainted with the social ills that affect young people and women.
She said that she took it upon herself to start an organisation and address these social ills.
“It was established in 2017, and has since carried out various projects. However, it was officially registered in 2019. As an organisation our objective is women empowerment; that is why we hosted this workshop,” Ndamase said.
