As part of the 16 Days of Activism programme, Princess Stella Sigcau II, who is the founder of the Khuthaza Ukufunda Initiative, which promotes and encourages the culture of reading at schools, is promoting education.
This initiative created awareness of gender-based violence at schools and handed over donations of sanitary towels.
According to Sigcau, they requested the Imbumba Foundation to participate through its caring for girls programme, to donate sanitary towels to the schools in the Mpondo Kingdom.
“The schools who benefited from this initiative were Mt Zion Senior Secondary School, Mncwathi Senior Secondary School in Mbizana, Mbotyi Junior Secondary School, Dumezweni Senior Secondary School and Mfazwe Senior Secondary School in Ntabankulu.”
According to her, philanthropist and specialist from Johannesburg, Dr Avela Mayekiso, also donated hygiene products to these schools and educated girls on body development.
Both Mayekiso and Sigcau are members of the South African Royal Princess Network, which was founded by Sigcau. “It is an association of princesses from South Africa who wish to make a difference in their communities, contribute to a better South Africa and fight gender-based violence,” Sigcau said.
The Imbumba Foundation is a non-profit organisation founded by innovative social entrepreneur, Richard Mabaso in 2010.
