FOUR Mthatha-born boxers are working hard in preparation for the big International Fight Over 10 Rounds tournament that will take place at the Box Camp in Booysens, Gauteng.
The boxing tournament will be held on September 20, and the main bout will be between Sikho Nqothole from the Eastern Cape and Jafat Amukwa from Namibia.
The Mthatha professional boxers who will fight on the day include Sikho Nqothole, Bangile Nyangani, Frank Samkelo Sotomela, and Siyamthanda Wophela.
The boxers have told Mthatha Express that they are ready for the International Fight Over 10 Rounds tournament and are going to do everything to win their bouts and make the Eastern Cape and South Africa proud.
Siyamthanda Wophela said fighting in one night, one tournament, as four boxers coming from Mthatha, is a big thing for them, and this will definitely motivate other young boxers to work harder to not give up their careers.
Sikho Nqothole will be fighting for over 10 rounds, while former SA minimum weight champion Bangile Nyangani will fight under a new division.
Nyangani has not fought since he lost his title in East London against Siyakholwa Kuse in July 2023, while his opponent, Buthelezi, will also fight for the first time after 12 months without a match.
Siyamthanda Wophela said on the day he would be fighting against an experienced boxer.
“I will need to show up on the day and do everything to win the match against Thabo Moabi,” said Wophela.
“I am still new to professional boxing, and I will do everything to restore my dignity.”
This is the third fight for Waphela since turning professional, and he is pushing hard to qualify for ratings in order to be eligible to fight for the SA title one day.

. Sikho Siquence Nqothole vs Jafet Amukwa
. Frank Sotomela vs Thamsanqa Cele
