Gospel music heavyweights, Mxolisi Mbethe, Lusanda Mcinga and her son, Bethusile Mcinga, are some of the notable musicians expected to serenade gospel music lovers during Dr Yongama Mrwetyana’s sixth album launch gospel show taking place this Saturday, April 30, in Southernwood, Mthatha.
Mrwetyana, who will be launching the album, I Am Still Standing: Chapter 2, on the day, said the weekend’s event would be a two-part affair, made up of motivational speeches from various distinguished speakers during the day, as well as uplifting gospel tunes that would reverberate throughout the night, into the early hours of the morning on Sunday, May 1.
“We have deliberately divided the event into two parts, one being a motivational talk that will include sermons by the likes of Pastor Luthando Gogela from East London, as well as local business owners, Nomsa Ngxola and Mziwanele Makabane, who will be sharing their motivating rags-to-riches stories with the attendees on the day,” Mrwetyana said.
“The second part will be live performances by various gospel acts, including local ones, we have lined up for the day and I must hasten to add that all the musicians that will be sharing the stage on the day will be performing using live bands,” added Mrwetyana.
He further said the event, apart from being hosted to launch his sixth studio album, was intended to spread the message of hope and love, especially to those that may be in a state of hopelessness due to the COVID-19 pandemic and other challenges they may be dealing with.
Tickets for the gospel show are available at Office 28 at The Mall in Madeira Street, Mthatha, at R100 each for general access and R200 for VIP access. They will also be sold at the door on April 30.
The venue for the gospel show is the OR Tambo District Municipality Hall in Southernwood, Mthatha.
The show starts at 13:00 and will go on until the early morning of May 1.
Ingwane FM breakfast show host, Mpendulo Magcakini, will be the master of ceremonies.
The event is hosted by Mrwetyana’s Amagubevu Communications, in partnership with Mosuli Guest House and Ingwane FM.
