The Alfred Nzo District Command Council honoured those who have played a significant role in the fight against COVID-19, using the Voom Vaccination campaign to recognise the Department of Health employees and other relevant stakeholders for their immense contribution in the fight against the pandemic.
According to the statement, issued by the spokesperson for the Alfred Nzo District Municipality, Lixolile Petela, the district Department of Health worked with other departments and stakeholders, so that contributions made by other stakeholders were also recognised.
He said knowing that such recognition was just a token of what was required to support implementation teams, these awards were meant to appreciate the work done thus far and motivate all front-line workers for the work ahead.
“The recognition is not intended as a competition, and everybody’s contribution in the fight against the pandemic is appreciated and acknowledged.”
The Executive Mayor of Alfred Nzo District Municipality, Councillor Polelo Mohale, along with all the mayors in the district, rewarded 50 recipients for their outstanding contributions made in the fight against COVID-19.
In his keynote address, he noted how hard, long and tiring the road had been, but through the resilience of the front-line workers, humanity managed to survive.
