MAGIC Stars FC, from eMaxesibeni (Mount Ayliff) is in desperate need of assistance as the club strives to rescue rural soccer players from poverty.
The team is mostly focusing on the development of young children, recruiting them from the deep rural areas of eMaxesibeni.
As the team is from one of the most poverty stricken areas, they are currently depending on donors and parents’ donations to survive.
Magic Stars’ coach, Louis Bhala, said they wanted to make sure that the children put food on the table for their families through sport.
“We believe that football can better their lives and we want to have our own sports facility for these players.”
As the team is dreaming of producing the best players for PSL teams, they need enough support and resources as they are still struggling to transport players to matches.
Magic Stars’ main objective is to keep the children away from crime and give them an opportunity to showcase their skills.
The Lugelweni Location team consists of U/13, U/15 and U/17.
“We are seeking any kind of assistance in terms of transportation, balls and training resources,” Bhala said, adding that another challenge was that their coaches were not qualified coaches and they depended on the internet for information on how to train the players.
“We want to develop them to become better coaches and that is why we are seeking assistance,” he said.
