THE Khiwa Media Tournament will be more fun and interesting this year, according to organisers.

As part of entertaining the crowds, the founder of the tournament has decided to add an unexpected match, where politicians will play against the artists.

The Artists vs Politicians match will be played before the final match on August 10.

OR Tambo District municipality mayor, Mesuli Ngqondwana, is expected to lead the politician’s team, together with Councillor Nkosi Mkhanyiseli Dudumayo.

The artist team is expected to be led by gospel award winner, Betusile Mcinga, and DJ Master D.

The Khiwa Media Tournament will kick off on August 9 and 10 and 24 soccer teams are expected to participate.

Some of the teams that are going to participate are coming from different provinces across South Africa, and another is coming from Lesotho.

The founder of the tournament, Bulelani Mancotywa, said all the preparations are going very well.

“We can say we are ready for the tournament, and the match between artists and politicians is continuing, and both teams are already affiliated.

“All the sport grounds are ready,” said Mancotywa.

The overall winner in soccer will go home with an amount of R35 000, medals, kit, and balls.

In netball the winner will go home with R10 000, kit, a ball, and medals.

The tournament has been happening for the past four years.

In 2020 the tournament was won by Canzibe Super Eagles’ FC; in 2021 Notinsila Black Tigers were crowned champions and in 2022 Juventus FC won the tournament.

Then last year, in 2023, Happy Brothers FC was crowned the champions of the Khiwa Media Tournament.

The Khiwa Tournament will be held at Nomcamba administration area under Ngqeleni, on August 9 and 10.
