The founder of Bluebelle Tutoring, Ursula Bell, was inspired by a clean-up competition that was held in Coffee Bay recently to think more about teaching people about how to change glass bottles into something else.
She said she also used this opportunity to host workshops for children, as part of raising awareness of the importance of keeping the environment clean.
“I live in a nearby village and the lack of tourists affects us all. Clean-up Coffee Bay is trying to restore its pristine beauty that once brought us tourists in abundance. The intention was to firstly clean up Coffee Bay.
“The sand dunes are treacherous for anyone, especially children, as they are knee deep in broken glass.
“We also wanted to raise awareness of the importance of not littering and also keeping pollution out of our waterways,” explained Bell.
She added that they were planning on running this four event times a year, with the next one being scheduled for after Heritage Day.
According to her, they would use glass bottles for building.
“I want to run a workshop once my first building is up. The workshop would teach locals how to build with glass bottles while we build a learning centre for the kids in Mawotsheni,” Bell explained.
