King Sabata Dalindyebo (KSD) Municipality Executive Mayor, Nyaniso Nelani, has outlined priority outputs that municipal citizens can expect during his first 100 days in office for the current council term.
Nelani detailed his plans in a report tabled during a special council meeting of the local municipality, held on January 12.
The executive mayor’s 100 Days’ Plan commenced on January 12 and will conclude in April 2022.
“One of the cardinal goals that King Sabata Dalindyebo is working towards is the achievement of the metropolitan area status by 2026.
“Therefore, the task that lies ahead is to ensure that all the programmes undertaken within the various outcomes of government in KSD work in synergy for the realisation of this metropolitan area status goal,” reads part of the report.
The report further outlines four priorities for the current council terms namely, infrastructure investment, economic investment, service delivery and institutional development.
It also highlights challenges the current council will have to confront head on such as the high rate of urbanisation, a low revenue base, land claims, aging infrastructure, poor connectivity (ICT), a high rate of unemployment and a low literacy base.
Some of the municipal programmes Nelani will be leading as part of his 100 Days’ Plan include the sod turning for the Coffee Bay Government Precinct in Mapuzi, and sod turning for Viedgesville Logistics Hub, as well as the handing over of 411 urban housing title deeds in Maydene Farm and the handing over 120 housing units as part of the rural housing programme.
