Radio sports reporter, Vuyisa Kulase, is determined to deliver quality sports stories as he is working with one of his role models, multi-award winner, Mphuthumi “Putco” Mafani.
Kulase returned to the uMhlobo Wenene FM sports show, Ezemidlalo Nolonwabo, last month.
The show is aired every Saturdays between 07:00 and 09:00, with Mafani as the anchor of the programme.
Kulase’s voice was last heard on the show in February 2020, after SAFA announced the suspension of amateur games due to the coronavirus pandemic outbreak.
His role in the show is to report amateur and grassroots sport stories around the Eastern Cape.
He told Mthatha Express that reporting on Mafani’s show was “a dream come true”.
“This is one of the best things to happen in my career.
“As you know, Putco is one of the few living radio legends in South Africa currently,” Kulase said.
“And all the people who worked with Putco before have progressed in life.
“I have a belief that one day I will progress in life and grow more in what I am doing, which is to report grassroots sports development stories.”
Kulase won a number of provincial MEC sports awards including the National Minister Sport Award under then sports minister, Fikile Mbalula.
He has been winning provincial MEC awards since 2015.
