FOOTBALL coaches in Butterworth and surrounding areas are hoping that the knowledge they gained or received during the two-day Mnquma LFA Coaches Workshop, which was hosted by Nozulu Youth Legacy Cup over the weekend, will help them improve their coaching skills and the standard of their teams.

On Saturday and Sunday (October 14 and 15) at Butterworth Town Hall, Nozulu Youth Legacy Cup took FIFA break opportunity to hold a workshop for all local coaches who are coaching teams competing in the Mnquma Local Football Association (Mnquma LFA).

Nozulu Youth Legacy Cup, led by DStv Premiership side Sekhukhune United general manager, Luxolo Matikinca, invited SAFA Technical Scout and Analyst, Sinesipho Mali, Sekhukhune United Head Performance Analyst, Tinashe-Shingai Mukandatsama and Motsepe Foundation Championships side AmaTuks assistant coach, Nkululeko Malgas, to be the main speakers of the event.

Each speaker focused on a certain aspect of coaching, trying to help Mnquma coaches improve their coaching skills, scouting players and team analysis and analysing players individually.

Malgas, from AmaTuks, made a presentation on how the coaches should conduct training sessions at amateur and professional level so that they could perform at their best.

While Mali and Mukandatsama were focused more on how to scout players and their way of analysing team performance and individual performance, they also encouraged coaches to equip themselves by studying football courses so they have more knowledge, as modern soccer is very demanding in all aspects of the game.

All speakers in attendance hold the highest qualifications in football, and plan to continue studying about it to empower themselves further.

Onke Magele, who coaches Hotspurs FC in Mnquma LFA, said that they had learnt a lot during the workshop.

“I hope this workshop will assist us as coaches to improve our coaching skills and our teams’ standard,” said Magele.

He said that it was his first time attending football sessions like this one, as he is yet to attend any coaching courses and he was happy to be part of the workshop.

More than 40 coaches were part of the workshop, and some of them already have certificates in different levels of coaching.

About this workshop, Nozulu Youth Legacy was aiming to enhance the coaching skills of Mnquma local coaches, and also help them to understand the new football trends locally and international.
