Referee Bongisa ‘Rebo’ Ntshobole told Mthatha Express that she is ready for the kick-off of the Hollywoodbets Women’s Super League, which is due to resume in April.
The upcoming league will be Rebo’s third season, having started officiating in the league in 2020.
The Ngcobo-born official was among the 66 women referees who recently attended the National Women’s League workshop in Gauteng, which was held between March 13 and 19.
The workshop was part of preparing the female referees for the upcoming Hollywoodbets season and they ran a fitness test and Rebo was among those who passed it.
The fearless woman said they were taught different officiating dynamics during the workshop, including referee laws.
She started officiating back in 2017, working with experienced male referees in the Eastern Cape and since then she has never looked back.
Rebo is working both as linesman and referee.
This past weekend, on March 26, Rebo was among the officials in charge of the last game of the male provincial ABC Motsepe League season, between Sibiya FC and Bushbucks FC, which was held at WSU Stadium in Butterworth.
Rebo’s dream is to become one of the best referees in South Africa one day.
Meanwhile, this past weekend, SAFA and the betting company, Hollywoodbets honoured top performers of the last season. Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies won most of the awards.
Hollywoodbets announced that they were going to continue sponsoring the National Women’s League for the next three years.
