On their Facebook page the team released a statement showing their excitement about the call-up of Mbidana.

The statement read as follows, “It is an honour and a privilege to announce teenage sensation, Sifiso Mbidana’s, first call up to the Bafana Bafana preliminary squad for the COSAFA Cup.

“This will inspire a lot of youngsters to believe that, with dedication and hard work, the dream of representing the national team is possible, regardless of age or background, as he is from Bizana and he is a player for Bizana Pondo Chiefs.

“Mbidana understands what it means to have cracked the nod for the COSAFA Cup journey as a teenager.
