Cambridge Station Commander, Brigadier Pumla Mdlankomo, fulfilled her dream of taking care of the Zenzisi family in a small village of Sithungu location at Mooiplaas, outside East London, by providing them with a new house.
She was accompanied by Women’s Network and the Community Police Forum.
Police spokesperson, Mluleki Mbi, said this came after Mdlankomo was touched by the plight of the family, particularly their 14-year-old daughter, who has disabilities and no form of assistance.
Mbi said Mdlankomo knocked on many doors and within three months, a decent brick house was built for the familyand they moved out from the shack they were staying in,” said Mbi. Mdlankomo added that the girl was given a hospital bed, which was suitable for her condition and a mobile chair.
She said this visit was supposed to be done last year but the pandemic and lockdown regulations made it impossible.
Mdlankomo then donated groceries to the family and promised them that they will always be in her heart and if Christmas arrives before visiting them, they must take these groceries as the Christmas present from her.
