A 45-year-old man from Renny locality in Libode briefly appeared before the Libode Magistrate’s Court on Monday, August 22, in connection with raping a 13-year-old boy.
Police spokesperson Brigadier Tembinkosi Kinana said that the case was postponed until October 14, 2022 for further investigation. He said the accused abandoned bail and will remain in police custody.
“According to police reports, the victim was on his way home from a soccer match when he met the suspect who forcefully took him to his house where he raped him overnight. The victim managed to escape the following day and reported the matter,” said Kinana.
He added that the suspect was traced and subsequently arrested by the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offenses Unit.
