Acting Amathole District
Commissioner, Brigadier Ngangema Xakavu, has expressed shock and condemned an
incident in which a woman was killed by her partner at Weza Village in
Willowvale, yesterday.
Police arrested a man (32) after he
fatally shot a woman (35).
Police spokesperson, Captain Siphokazi Mawisa, said it
is alleged that the deceased was with the suspect when an argument broke out between the two in their homestead.
She said the suspect went to his vehicle
and took a firearm and shot the deceased in her upper body.
“Police recovered
the firearm that was used in the commission of the murder and a charge of murder, as well as illegal
possession of firearm and ammunition was opened,” said Mawisa.
The suspect was expected to appear in the Willowvale Magistrate’s Court today.
