The police crime prevention strategy patrols have led to the arrest of a 29-year-old man found in possession of an unlicensed firearm.
Police spokesperson Captain Siphokazi Mawisa confirmed that the suspect is expected to appear today, August 10 at the Butterworth Magistrate’s Court.
Mawisa said that oolice from Msobomvu received information on criminal activity that occurred at Tanga locality outside Butterworth.
“On arrival they found the alleged suspect and upon investigation they proceeded to his home where they recovered the firearm hidden in the roof. They then demanded a license to carry a firearm which he failed to produce. The suspect was arrested immediately,” said Mawisa.
