Nkosivumile Saphepha (50), from Matyengqina location in Mthatha, is living a miserable life as he is suffering from a skin problem which has resulted in him being isolated from some of the people in his community.
He uses walking sticks due to his condition.
Talking to Express, Saphepha said this problem started in 1983, while he was working as a builder.
He said the situation forced him to stay at home.
As a result, he does not have his own home.
“When this thing started, I felt as If I was stabbed by needles below my feet, now my skin is peeling.
“Now I am staying at home and there are few people who manage to visit.
“Some of the people call me names and its painful because I am sick.
“I went hospital several times; they keep on giving an ointment which helps me for a short time. When it is finished the situation starst again,” said Saphepha.
He said his wish was to go to a private doctor but cannot afford to do so. He added that it was not easy for him to use public transport due to his situation.
When he goes to hospital, he is forced to hire a car because he cannot travel by taxi. “My situation is very painful. I appeal to anyone who can help me to come forward because this is draining me every day.”
