The body of a Port St John’s woman (35) who allegedly murdered three of her children, has been found not far from the alleged crime scene.

According to a reliable source, it is alleged that the woman said she was taking her children to a church service, but instead she went to a nearby forest on September 11.

“It is where she poisoned and strangled her three children to death.

“One of the children (11) saved herself by pretending to be dead,” the source said.

“After she (the mother) left the scene, the young victim tried to wake up her siblings, but she saw that they were no more. She then rushed to the nearby homestead where she reported the matter.”

The source said the 11-year-old girl was then taken to the hospital, where she is recovering.

The mayor of Port St. Johns, Councilor Nomvuzo Mlombile Cingo, confirmed the incident, stating that the ward councillor informed her about it.

She said they did not want to speculate and asked social workers to assess the situation and report on what led the mother to allegedly murder her children.

“I have not yet visited the family to see the situation because this happened yesterday morning. It is very painful,” said Cingo.

Police have not yet confirmed the incident.
