One of the community members from Ngxalawe location in Tsomo thanked Mthatha Express Newspaper for assisting them, as they had been living in darkness from December 18, 2021, until last week.
Seniwonga Matole (53) said they spent the festive season without electricity, even though they contacted Eskom several times.
After seeing that they were not getting help, he contacted Mthatha Express asking for an intervention. “We were not informed that our power would be switched off and no one told us what was happening until now. We only needed help,” said Matole.
He confirmed that they were not able to use their electric appliances due to this problem.
“Our electricity just went off and it was not scheduled load shedding. We were really struggling. It was going to be hard for our children to use candles when studying. We thank Express because you managed to help us. Now our lives are back on track.”
After Express heard about this problem, the reporter contacted Eskom’s provincial spokesperson, Zama Mpondwana, who managed to get help for this community and the power was restored again.
