Madeira police are investigating two cases of murder after
two men were shot dead while driving in Mthatha.

According to the information, on March 26 at around 21:50,
police responded to a shooting complaint at Hughes Street where a VW Amarok
bakkie was found crashed against the wall of a shop near Nelson Mandela
Drive. 

“Upon closer inspection of the vehicle police noticed that
it was riddled with bullet holes. Two men between the ages of 45-48 were found lying in the passenger and driver’s seats with several gunshot
wounds,” says police spokesperson Sergeant Kaya Matola-Mvanyashe.

No arrests have been made in relation to the incident.

In an unrelated incident, Lusikisiki police are
investigating a case of rape after a 24-year-old woman was allegedly raped by
her ex-boyfriend.

“According to the information the victim boarded a car from
her place around Lusikisiki to visit her boyfriend. After she was dropped, she
noticed a Toyota Quantum which was stationery, and the driver of the Quantum
was her ex-boyfriend. He asked the victim as to where she was going where after
the ex-boyfriend forcefully instructed the victim that he accompany her to her
current boyfriend.

“When she refused, her ex-boyfriend forced the victim into
his vehicle and drove to a homestead at Sandlulube locality. It is alleged that
he instructed the victim to get inside his room and forcefully raped her. He
then took her and dropped her next to the homestead of her boyfriend,” Sergeant
Matola-Mvanyashe said.

Matola-Mvanyashe said the suspect is known and an arrest was
imminent.
