A guitarist and maskandi musician from Qukuswayo location in Port St Johns has appealed to any good Samaritan who could help him to record his first album.

Snoxolo Msatha (20) said he started singing in 2017. He said even though he had compiled three songs at the moment, it was hard for him because he does not have enough money to record his first album. He said even though he gets invites to sing at local events, his dream is to release an album. His first song is titled Unolilo, followed by Nimitha Nibancinane and Ndiyazikhalela.

Msatha said he chose this kind of music because he loved guitar and used to tell himself that one day he would play it. “I think I was obsessed because whenever I saw someone playing it, I made a prayer that one day I wanted to have one,” said Msatha.

He added that he grew up listening to maskandi music because it was the only music that was played in his home, which is why he had chosen to follow his heart.

He said the music genre had taught him respect towards other people and to make sure that he always learned new things from them.

“I grew up listening to the music of Bheki Ngcobo, known as Ihhashi Elimhlophe, Mpatheni Khumalo ‘Mfazomnyama’ and other well-known artists,” Msatha said.
