The newly-appointed Chippa United first team performance analyst, Melikhaya Dikeni, has already started his duties ahead of the season kick-off.
“It’s been a very eye-opening first month. You know, pre-season trying to fix the team, get the team’s model in line with the way the coach wants to play, while navigating the club’s culture. It’s been interesting but it’s about finding the balance,” said Dikeni.
This is the first time Dikeni has worked for the DSTV premiership team.
“It’s the first time for me, not much of a difference because of the club cultures, you know. The culture of both clubs requires top-level individuals and its demands. If you check, All Stars has been one of the teams who have consistently been in the top pack in the NFD, and with Chippa United we hope to add value to this big institution and put it on top where it belongs, with other top institutions in the league.”
At Chippa United, the Mthatha-born Melikhaya “Coach Nkosi” Dikeni is also tasked with profiling and monitoring prospective players for both senior team and juniors.
Last season Coach Nkosi was working as All Stars FC first team performance analyst and All Stars FC ended in fourth position of the Motsepe Foundation Championship league.
He is the former WSU Institutional head coach.
He holds a FIFA Grassroots, FIFA Youth and CAF C licence with a PFSA Level 1 and Level 2 Performance certificate; he is currently enrolled for his UEFA licence under the Scotland’s football Association and he is expected to complete his UEFA B shortly.
