Following the success of his internationally acclaimed single, Stand By Me, released in October 2020, Ngcobo-born DJ and record producer, Zwelethemba “Thiza” Maraya, has made a comeback and released a new kwaito single, titled Wozan’eNgcobo.
The single was officially released on December 16, last year and is currently available on most digital music download and streaming platforms.
The track is a groovy fusion of kwaito and house, which Maraya said was an invitation to people to come to his hometown of Ngcobo and experience its hospitality and visit its entertainment establishments.
The track also pays tribute to some eminent personalities from the town of Ngcobo, including Eastern Cape Premier, Oscar Mabuyane.
“The track Wozan’eNgcobo is basically an invitational song, calling on people to come to our small town of Ngcobo and experience its beautiful places and feel the way we entertain our visitors,” said the Johannesburg-based Maraya.
Maraya’s big break in music came in 2017, when he decided to move to Johannesburg, which led to the release of his debut album, a 12-track commercial house album, titled Engcobo Funk, on which he collaborated with Afro-pop vocalist, Mendela, whom he features on his internationally acclaimed single, Stand By Me.
Maraya wrote and produced his latest single, Wozan’eNgcobo, himself.
