THE inauguration of Headman Mboneleli Mkhatshane from Mthwaku location in Ngqamakhwe, has generated a new hope to the community members of that area.
The ceremony was held in his home, last week.
According to the spokesperson for Amahlubi Traditional Council, Vuyani Ndzuba, the ceremony was a success.
They hope that the change in leadership will lead to improved service delivery.
He said at least the community would have someone who would listen to them.
“Most of the time people were doing whatever they like because they did not have a leader.
“Even when we tried to talk to them they did not want to listen. We are happy now because there would be some new changes in our community and that is what we were always wanted,” said Ndzuba.
He added that traditional leaders were very important to them because they gave guidance to the community members.
According to Ndzuba, the youth should learn that traditional leaders were very important and they should ensure that they gained knowledge from these leaders.
He said they hoped that there would be an improvement in their lives because Mkhatshane had good leadership skills.
Mkhatshane said he would use this opportunity he had been given by bringing development to his community.
He added that after Chief Lizo Mkhatshane passed away, they had struggled to get service delivery.
“We do not have water or access roads and unemployment is another problem because we did not have a leader. Now that I am leading this village I will bring (positive) changes,” said Mkhatshane.
