Ngqeleni police detectives arrested two suspects who allegedly
killed a 62-year-old woman at Nkanti location Detyana A/A on Saturday
July 31 at about 19:30.
According to a report by Sergeant Kaya Matola-Mvanyashe, police spokesperson, circumstances
suggest the deceased was inside the premises of Mbotho shop, when she was
assaulted by a 29-year-old suspect.
“The shop owner
intervened and that is when the second male suspect, aged 28, came and fatally
stabbed the deceased three times.
“While the suspects were busy stabbing the woman, they were
calling her a witch,” Matola-Mvanyashe said.
The deceased sustained stab wounds in her upper body and
succumbed to her injuries.
The suspects fled the scene after the incident but were later
arrested.
They were expected to appear before Ngqeleni Magistrate’s Court yesterday, August 2.
