The Ntabankulu Local Municipality has noted the planned march doing rounds on social media platforms, regarding a college to be built in Ntabankulu.
According to the statement, issued by the head of communications from Ntabankulu Local Municipality, Lungisile Mzanywa, as the municipality, they viewed this march as opportunistic and misleading the people of Ntabankulu, the youth in particular.
He said the Mayor for this municipality, Councillor Tsileng Sobuthongo, had engaged with Dr Blade Nzimande, Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, virtually in October 2021.
Such an engagement was then published on municipal social media platforms where snapshots of her and Nzimande were also taken and published.
“Since then enormous progress has been made in this regard where the municipality has even taken a council resolution on the land for the college, as it was required by the minister’s office in response to the agricultural college that was requested,” said Mzanywa.
He said the municipality would keep on updating the community of Ntabankulu on major parts of the progress of the college, as it also published the initial engagement.
“In this regard, people are urged not to be misled by people who would want to claim political victories for themselves, using the plight of the people of Ntabankulu, especially about plans that are already in the pipeline and moving.”
