WARNING: SCENES OF NUDITY
A gun-wielding naked man caused much drama near the Western Cape High Court in Cape Town today (Wednesday 3 September), before being overpowered and arrested by police.
In videos of the incident, being shared widely on social media, the man can be seen standing on the sidewalk opposite the courthouse in just his birthday suit, holding the firearm.

According to police spokesperson Lt Col Malcolm Pojie, police officers responded to complaints of the nude man at about 13:00. The suspect reportedly managed to disarm a police officer during a scuffle.
In one video the suspect can be seen fidgeting with the weapon and pointing it towards the street several times. Shots are heard as police try to close in on the suspect, and then fall back.
“Why aren’t the police shooting back… they should be disarming,” a bystander can be heard saying in one of the videos.
After also pointing the gun at himself a few times, two police officers eventually managed to swoop in and take the suspect down.
The suspect was arrested on charges of public indecency, robbery of a firearm and discharging a firearm in a public place, according to Pojie.
No one was injured in the incident.
