Nyadeni Local Municipality was recently recognised by the South African Local Government Association (SALGA) for consistently attaining unqualified audit opinions.
An unqualified opinion is an audit outcome that does not have any kind of adverse comments and doesn’t include any disclaimers about any clauses or the audit process.
This type of report indicates that the auditors are satisfied with the company’s financial reporting.
The municipality received the award during SALGA Eastern Cape’s two-day provincial members’ assembly held at the East London International Convention Centre on Wednesday, August 2, and Thursday, August 3.
The award is for the 2016 to 2022 period.
“The attainment of such audit outcomes by the municipality for six consecutive years is indicative of the fact that we are a tried and tested brand that is transparent, fair and compliant to legislation.”
“We pride ourselves for setting up strong financial controls and adhering to them rigorously,” said Nyandeni Local Municipality spokesperson, Ncebakazi Kolwane.
Mbhashe Local Municipality executive mayor, Samkelo Janda, was also recognised at the same assembly for his leadership in ensuring that the municipality attained a consistent unqualified audit opinion for 2016 to 2022.
