Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Siphokazi Mawisa confirmed that a murder case has been opened following the fatal shooting of a 66-year-old man at Mgwenyane locality in Ngqeleni on Thursday, July 25.
A source confirmed that the deceased was a popular church minister at Apostolic Faith Mission (AFM), Pastor Bulelani Magadla.
She said that according to the report, he was driving with his wife when a single cab overtook and blocked the road.
“Two unknown males came out of their vehicle and started shooting at them. The wife is unharmed, while her husband died at the scene.
“The motive for the shooting is unknown at this stage. However, a police investigation is underway, and no arrests have been made,” said Mawisa.
