The Eastern Cape Premier, Oscar Mabuyane, encouraged young people to know that the government would assist those who were willing to be assisted.

Mabuyane said this while he was handing over certificates to young people who benefited from the Isiqalo Youth Fund in Mthatha, last week.

He said he felt comfortable that this pilot project had reached out to disadvantaged young people. He said that as the leaders, they had a responsibility to make sure that the youth were supported.

“We hope that this initiative of handing over equipment to our young people will enable them to grow their businesses. We must know that education is one of the important tools that help you to open doors,” said Mabuyane.

He said even though there were no jobs at the moment, that people should think of what [else] they could do in order to live.

The owner of Mbeje Landscaping and Gardening Services, Mthandeni Mbeje, said he was very happy to receive a vehicle, handed over by Mabuyane.

He said he also received six grass cutters and chemicals, and he would use this equipment in the tender he had won from the King Sabatha Dalindyebo (KSD) Local Municipality to cut grass in town.

“I am very happy because it was not easy for me to fulfil what I promised KSD but now I would be able to do what I want to do,” said Mbeje.

He confirmed that he would also use the bakkie to transport his employees.
