A presenter from Khanya Community Radio in Butterworth, Yandisa Zezele (22), is appealing to his supporters to vote for him in the South African Traditional Music Awards (SATMAs).

Zezele is originally from Nkanga locality in Willowvale.

The awards will be held in Limpopo on November 25.

Zezele said he was nominated in the best traditional music community radio presenter category.

He presents a programme, called Sihlafuna-manyama, which airs between 12:00 and 15:00 on Sundays. He said he had joined Kanya FM in January 2020.

“I was very shocked when I received a call informing me that I had been nominated. This showed that I am very important in what I am doing in the studio.

“This is the first time I have entered this kind of competition, which is why I am very excited,” said Zezele.

He added that his programme discusses the Xhosa language and focuses a lot on heritage.

He said this assists the community because it brings back young people who have lost their roots. He said he appeals to his supporters to support him so that he can come back with this award.

He appealed to his supporters to SMS SATMA 121 on 49495.
