The founder of South African Royal Princess Network and Khuthaza Ukufunda Initiative, Princess Stella Sigcau II, donated books to different schools in the Alfred Nzo District Municipality, recently.

“I started this initiative after I saw that there was a challenge in our locations because they don’t have libraries, either in schools or in the community. When our children go to university level, they become frustrated because they know nothing about libraries. When you are doing research and assignments at universities, you need to understand how to use the library,” said Sigcau II.

She added that she also wanted to cultivate the culture of reading, among the youth in rural areas.

She said that by donating these books, she also wanted to develop young minds to know that education was the main key to success.

“I started this initiative last month. I want to reach as many schools as possible. I am currently assisting Headman, Ntlane Madikizela, from Bomvini, to set up a book room to be accessed by his community.”

She added that he had already received books through this initiative.

Sigcau II said supporting education is one of the keys that decreased the high number of gender-based violence cases in their areas.

She added that education empowered women, because it enlightened them and it gave them confidence.

She said it also helped women to know and embrace their rights and stand against their abuse to protect these rights.
