The Serious
Organised Crime Investigation Team of the Hawks in the Eastern Cape is
appealing for information that can lead to the
location of Vuyisani Topo.
Topo is believed
to be the relevant person to assist in an ongoing investigation where
a police official, Constable Mfundo Ntshiba (35), escaped from police custody on
July 25.
Ntshiba escaped
from police custody after making his third court appearance at the Cala
Magistrate’s Court where he, together with his accomplice Xolile Makhosini (37), were appearing on charges of robbery, kidnapping and hijacking.
“The
suspects appeared in Cala Magistrate’s Court on July 7. Nthsiba was denied bail
by virtue of being a law enforcement agent while Makhosini was released on
R3 000 bail. Ntshiba appeared thrice in court with July 25 being the last date
where he is reported to have escaped under police custody, after having been
denied bail on the said date,” said Eastern Cape Hawks spokesperson, Captain
Yolisa Mgolodela.
Anyone with
information on Topo’s whereabouts can contact Constable Cabane on 082 371
6576 and the information will be treated with the strictest confidentiality.
